Can you run a diesel engine using HHO gas only?

Can you run a diesel engine using HHO gas only and without using diesel fuel? I know you have to start the engine using
diesel fuel but I have seen videos of cars switching over to HHO gas only and they keep running.

no diesel! Keeps on running!

My car is gasoline. I returned from a trip from Moscow (where I live now) to York in the UK and back again. During the return, I ran out of gas (being a know-it-all about consumption! and miscalculated! I ran out at the exact moment I crossed the German/Polish border (now does not exist!) and could not get any gas fro 11 kilometers. The car (a VW Bora [Passat/Vento] 2-liter gas 4-cylinder engine slowed and sputtered until about 18 kilometers per hour. Then continued very slowly for 11 clicks until I could reach the gas station!

This happened on January 6th, 2009, at about 17:45.

But? to drive a car properly, with acceleration and power, you MUST modify the engine considerable to use it without gasoline (or diesel).
