Hello,

For you home-made generator, or for any generator, we don't suggest using baking soda.

It causes sludge, can corrode your electrodes and I have also heard it creates a poisonous gas.

Potassium Hydroxide is much more efficient and acts as a better catalyst overall. You will need to add very little, monitor your amp draw before adding more.

Hard to comment further because I don't know what size engine you have, what your generator design is etc.

Good luck with you hho project.
